Your Groove Camp leader is the inimitable Frank Vignola. Frank is one of the
most accomplished, multi-dimensional players walking the planet today.
Monster player, composer and improviser, Frank plays proficiently in every
genre, from jazz to bluegrass, and works with everyone and their
brother. Frank’s
pedigree is a mile long, but a quick Google will illustrate why there’s no
one better qualified to help you find the pocket and stay there.
 Frank brought the band to the studio for this one; Rich Zukor on bass and
percussion, Vinnie Raniolo on guitar and special guest host and
master percussionist, Joe Ascione, a first-call, universally-respected
drummer with 60-plus records to his credit. Your Groove Camp counselors thoroughly
examine ten distinct “grooves” covering blues shuffles, driving rock, linear funk,
jazz fusion and modern Latin grooves.
 The real fun begins when you dig in with a variety of time signatures
including 4/4, halftime, 5/4, 7/8, 9/8 and 11/8. Can you groove in all of
these time signatures? You will soon! Groove Camp is a hands-on course with
a break-through approach for fixing what ails your groove without relying on
tedious rhythm
exercises and boring tutorials on timing. Rather, students play their
way through the material from the ground up, first by studying how the
groove is established with bass and drums, and then learning how to lock in
the perfect rhythm guitar part. Frank ices the cake by demonstrating how to
solo in and around the groove. The course also includes a percussion/rhythm
master class from Joe Ascione. Groove Camp covers it all.
